Adopt an animal today and help save British Wildlife

Our adoptions make great presents all year round even for those who are difficult to buy for. By taking out one of our adoptions, either for yourself or someone else, you can help us to continue being there to help wild creatures when they are injured or orphaned. To take out an adoption for Christmas please download the form at the bottom of this page and return it to us by the 15th December at the latest to ensure that your adoption is delivered in time for Christmas.

As the West Countrys only 24 hour wildlife rescue service, we are the ones most likely to be called when members of the public find wildlife in distress. Last year Secret World rescued 4,242 creatures in distress providing treatment and care until they are ready to be returned to the wild. We not only rescue wildlife regionally but also received casualties from all over the UK due to our well known expertise in wildlife rehabilitation.

YOURS WHEN YOU SIGN UP...
Sign up today for an animal adoption at 3 a month (for a minimum of 12 months) and as well as knowing that you are helping wildlife, youll receive:
  • A gorgeous cuddly toy (30cm in height)
  • An adoption certificate
  • Chosen species fact sheet
  • An annual update on our work with your chosen species, written by our founder and wildlife author Pauline Kidner.
For 1 extra a month your child can become a Cygnet. Well send them a Secret World stationary pack, a certificate, birthday cards and 3 full colour newsletters with child-friendly facts and activities! For more information click here to view our Cygnets Page.

How 3 a month can help your adopted animal:
    It can help pay for:
  • Transport costs: our response drivers rescue wildlife in distress day and night, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.
  • Capture and transport equipment for wildlife casualties.
  • Straw and other suitable bedding to help distressed animals feel secure.
  • Food for an orphaned animal for a week
  • Antibiotics and other vital medicines for inured and sick wildlife.

  • Adopt an owlAdopt an Owl
Britains birds of prey are awe-inspiring and Owls are much loved across the UK. In Somerset we are very lucky that we have not only the Tawny and Little owls but also quite a few barn owls whose numbers have been dwindling. With handling and care expertise, Secret World helps when they become grounded by illness or even caught in kite wires.
  • Adopt a foxAdopt a Fox
The centre has a number of fox cubs brought in every year as well as adults who have found themselves trapped or are in an appalling condition from mange. These beautiful creatures have had to adapt to living in towns as development stretches further out. This leads to many road accidents injuring foxes both during the day and night.
  • Adopt a badgerAdopt A Badger
Secret World rescues close to 200 badgers each year, from tiny orphaned cubs to fully grown adults which have been involved in traffic accidents or even badger baiting. We continue to fight on their behalf as the government still seems adamant on killing them because of the problem with Bovine TB in cattle. This is despite robust and sounds science that proves that culling badgers does not work.
  • Adopt an otterAdopt an Otter
The otter has been endangered for many years but as the level of pollution goes down in rivers they are starting to make a comeback. This means that we are getting an increasing number of orphaned cubs come to us. We help when cubs become orphaned by starting an 18 month journey of love, bottle-feeds, fish eating and even swimming lessons! Each otter will eat large quantities of fish and need clean water to swim in - another expenses when we are on a water meter. Your support is desperately needed to help us care for these animals.
  • Adopt a Hedgehog
We apologise but Hedgehog adoptions are currently unavailable until further notice.
